Louisiana Tobacco Quitline (1-800-QUIT-NOW)

The Louisiana Tobacco Quitline is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and incorporates evidence-based strategies for tobacco dependence treatment for all Louisiana residents ages 13 and over. The Louisiana Quitline provides telephone and web-based tobacco cessation coaching to all Louisianans.

Services Included:

Telephone and web-based tobacco cessation coaching

  • 1 call program for all callers
  • 5 call program for callers ready to quit within 30 days
  • 10 call program for pregnant women and youth

Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)

  • 2 week week supply of patches and gum

Web Coach® with text messaging support

Printed materials and referral to resources

SmokeFree Teens

Smokefree Teen is part of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Initiative. The goal of Smokefree Teen is to reduce the number of youth who use tobacco. Smokefree Teen helps teens stop using tobacco by providing information grounded in scientific evidence and offering free tools that meet teens where they are—on their mobile phones.

Text Message Programs

Smokefree Teen has free text message programs that gives teens 24/7 tips, advice, and encouragement to help them become—and stay—tobacco free. These programs look just like a text conversation you’d with a friend.

quitSTART App

The free quitSTART app is made for teens and can help them quit smoking. It gives teens customized tips, inspiration, and challenges so they can quit for good.

Quit Vaping Resources

Quitting vaping can be tough for teens. Nicotine is in most vapes and is highly addictive. Smokefree teens can also help youth find healthy and effective ways to cope with nicotine withdrawals "cravings", stress, and anxiety. Click here for quit vaping or stay vape-free resources.

Smoking Cessation Trust (SCT)

SCT provides for the reimbursement of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Telephone Quit Line Services, Office Visits and Counseling.

Benefit for Louisiana Smokers who began smoking before September 1, 1988.
