Eat to win!

When children are healthier, they do better in school and set themselves up for better outcomes in adulthood. Well-Ahead developed the Eat to Win campaign to encourage students to choose a fruit and vegetable with each of their school lunches, so that they're eating to win at school and in life!

By using these tools and promoting Eat to Win in your school, you're supporting good nutrition and making the healthy choice the easy choice for your students. We hope these tools and tips help students choose to Eat to Win!

This project was funded using U.S. Department of Agriculture grant funds. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider.

What materials are included?

The Eat to Win campaign includes the following:

How do I use these materials?

Follow the guidelines and recommendations below to implement Eat to Win on your campus. A great way to encourage students and let them know about your school's involvement is to include a segment in your morning and/or afternoon announcements at least once per week. This can even include facts and tips for students to help make the healthy choice the easy choice.

Rigid Sign

The sign can be prominently displayed at your school. We recommend placing it at the interior entrance so that students will have a daily reminder of your participation in the Eat to Win campaign, as well as a daily reminder to choose fruits and veggies at lunch!

Photo Frame

The frame can be put in a prominent place in the school where students can use it in their social media posts. We recommend setting up a photo booth/station in your school and placing this frame in a location with minimal visual distractions in the background. A great way to get students to participate is by encouraging them to interact with the photo frames. These photos can be shared on social media using #EatToWin.

Floor Decals

The floor decals are a fun way to remind students to eat fruits and veggies while waiting in the lunch line! The floor decals can be utilized in the cafeteria where they'll be most visible. These should be placed on the floor so that students will read "EAT," "to," "WIN" sequentially as they are walking through the cafeteria.

Stickers

Elementary school teachers can use these stickers as a reward for their students who choose fruits and veggies at lunch! An example would be to have a lunch chart where each student received a stamp or check mark for each day that they chose fruits and veggies at lunch. By the end of the week (or month), those students with a stamp or check mark on each day will receive a sticker on Friday. Let us know at wellahead@la.gov if you have other creative ways you plan to use the stickers.

Social Media Posts

Planning your social media posts during the Eat to Win campaign will help you stay organized while showing parents that your school is encouraging their kids to make healthy choices at lunch!

Social Media Images

Each school can download up to four social media Images from the column on the right-hand side of this page. Schools can either post the two social media Images that are labeled as co-branded or the two social media images that are not labeled.

  • Schools that have a logo and are capable of adding their logo to the co-branded social media images without compromising the quality of the social media images can do so.
  • All other schools can use the two social media images that are unlabeled.
