Worksite WellSpots

Worksites are where many Louisianans spend the majority of their time. If you manage a worksite, you have the ability to significantly improve the lives of your employees by making small changes that can make a big impact on their health. Healthy employees are also happier, more productive, and have fewer sick days. Our worksite benchmarks are centered on a campus-wide smoke-free policy.

Worksite WellSpot Benchmarks

 All worksite WellSpots must be designated smoke-free locations. In addition to being smoke-free, worksites may meet additional wellness benchmarks.

Worksite Wellness Program - Beginning Implementation 
The first steps in beginning a worksite wellness program are gaining support from management, determining who will lead the program, and planning an initial assessment of your employees to determine current health habits and interests.

  • Letter from management indicating support for a worksite wellness program
  • Name of the designated staff person to lead the program
  • Brief description of worksite/employee assessments planned, in progress, or completed

Worksite Wellness Program - Partial Implementation
Once you’ve assessed your employees, you will develop a work plan of activities or programs to encourage healthy behaviors surrounding physical activity, nutrition, and mental health. 

Copy of work plan OR calendar of events reflective of assessment results.

Worksite Wellness Program - Full Implementation
Now that you have a plan, you’ll continue to encourage and motivate your employees as you implement the plan. After a year, you’ll do a post-assessment to evaluate the impact of your program.

Description of annual program evaluation plan or copy of annual evaluation results.

5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Healthy Workplaces Written description or pictures of at least two ways in which the 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Healthy Workplaces’ message is promoted to employees.

RESOURCES FOR IMPLEMENTATION
At least 50% of vending items or provided snack options meet the healthy vending guidelines. Inventory of vending machine or snack options from vendor (with nutritional information if available) OR picture of vending machine (if nutritional information is posted on the machine).
