Participation in Breastfeeding Welcome Here

The Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition encourages businesses to support employees and patrons who breastfeed or pump milk to feed their babies.  The Breastfeeding Welcome Here campaign is a great way to start showing support!

5-2-1-0 Partner

The 5-2-1-0 program is adapted from the evidence-based 5-2-1-0 program developed by the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center.

     5-2-1-0 stands for:
     5 or more fruits and vegetables per day
     2 or less hours of recreational screen time per day
     1 or more hour of physical activity per day
     0 sodas or sweetened beverages per day

This WellSpot promotes the 5-2-1-0 program in at least two ways in its facility.

Promotion of Self-Assessment Tools 

WellSpots are asked to promote self-assessment tools that assess an individual's risk for developing prediabetes or heart conditions. These self-assessment tools are critical for detecting signs and symptoms of diabetes or heart conditions in their early stages.

Healthy Menu Options

To meet this requirement, restaurant WellSpots should have at least three healthy entrée options on the menu for each meal time.  For cafés, bars and coffee houses, three healthy menu options may include snack/side items, specialty beverages or food options.  These healthy options should follow the nutrition guidelines listed on the wellaheadla.com website.

Implementation of Healthy Restaurant Practices

To meet this benchmark, restaurants must implement at least two healthy practices.  Examples of these healthy practices include, but are not limited to: serving meals on smaller plates, designing children’s placemats/coloring pages with healthy messages, serving locally grown fruits and vegetables, having side dishes default to healthy options, offering beverage sizes of 16 ounces or less, providing nutritional information of dishes or specialty drinks, or promoting a healthy menu option as the daily special.
