La Leche League of Ruston provides mother-to-mother breastfeeding information and support. La Leche League Leaders are available by phone, email, or facebook to help with breastfeeding questions. Two meetings (morning and evening) are held each month. All women interested in breastfeeding are invited. Babies and expecting mothers are welcome. A lending library is available. Topics covered include skin to skin, ways to comfort a fussy baby, feeding cues, hand expression, pumping and storing milk, rooming in, and basics of breastfeeding. This is a non-profit non-sectarian volunteer organization affiliated with La Leche League International. Donations are welcome but there are no fees for attendance or help.
Meetings are held during the following times:
- First week of the month, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
- Third week of the month, Thursday, 6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
