The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana believes that investing early in children’s health leads to stronger lifelong outcomes, which is why it proudly participates in Well-Ahead Louisiana’s WellSpot Designation (WSD) program.
The Coalition focuses on early childhood reform and Early Head Start, parenting education, healthy living for school-based and after-school programs, and youth development through prevention and empowerment. Addressing childhood obesity is one of its core priorities.
“The childhood obesity problem in Louisiana is critical,” said then-executive director of the coalition, Lynn Clark. “It falls on us—the adults who care for and about children—to create an environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice for every child.”
Through partnerships with parents, early childcare providers, and community organizations, the Coalition promotes healthy eating and physical activity. Clark noted that the WellSpot program helped integrate health and wellness across all Coalition programs.
Partnering with Well-Ahead since 2015, the Coalition has supported childcare centers and schools in adopting healthy policies and implemented a worksite wellness program in Region 8. The Coalition continues to use Well-Ahead Louisiana resources to sustain its wellness efforts.
