Forsythe Park on the Ouachita River in Monroe attracts kids, grown-ups and dogs. Events such as the annual “Bark in the Park” fun run fill the park with canines as well as their companions, and Forsythe’s Fourth of July festivities include live music from the bandstand and kid-friendly crafts and games.

Forsythe Park offers plenty to do on ordinary days as well. Park amenities include: 9-hole municipal golf course; children’s play area; picnic areas; public boat launch; sand volleyball courts; softball and soccer fields; walking trails.

Shade shelters provide open views of the river and quiet spots to relax. Additional features include batting cages, a 4-mile mountain bike trail and a sculpture garden featuring a 20-foot long metal dragonfly. Forsythe also features a well-maintained tennis complex, which contains eight lighted hard courts and a USPTA tennis pro who gives private as well as group lessons and oversees junior tennis programs.

Sidewalks surround the perimeter of the park which make walking safe and easy.
