North Oaks Medical Center offers support groups for teens that teach self-examination screening methods for cancer. Both classes are offered to high school seniors and are free of charge.
Breast Health/Breast Self-Examination (BSE)
This class provides teenage females (high school seniors) with general information about breast cancer with an emphasis on prevention and detection. In addition to lecture and discussion, an educational video demonstrating proper self-examination techniques will be shown.
Testicular Self-Examination (TSE)
This class provides teenage males (high school seniors) with general information about testicular cancer with an emphasis on prevention and detection. In addition to lecture and discussion, an educational video demonstrating proper testicular self-examination techniques will be shown.
