The Opelousas General Health System is hosting a Lactation Education Class for any mother interested in learning more about breastfeeding. The class is lead by a Lactation consultant which is a professional breastfeeding specialist, trained to teach mothers how to feed their baby. They help women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. A lactation consultant also helps babies who aren’t gaining enough weight.
Opelousas General Health System has a staffed International, Board-Certified Lactation Consultant who offers inpatient and outpatient lactation consults for our breast-feeding patients.
