The Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is a new home visit program for pregnant women and new moms in the Shreveport area. Parent Educators incorporate personal visits in the home, group meetings for PAT-enrolled parents, health and developmental screenings for PAT-enrolled children, and a resource network to help PAT-enrolled families reach their goals and address their needs. Topics covered in the program include a variety of birth and breastfeeding related subjects, and enrolled families are supported from pregnancy through kindergarten.
Eligibility requirements include the following:
- A Medicaid-eligible pregnant woman OR
- Have a Medicaid-eligible child 12 months or younger OR
- A Nurse-Family Partnership graduate family
All participants must live in Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Bienville, Claiborne, Red River or Natchitoches Parish.
All participants must meet income requirements (eligible for Medicaid, WIC, SNAP, TANF or SSI).
