Training and Support for Louisiana Physicians
Well-Ahead Louisiana Health Equity Action Team and the Louisiana Rural Health Association (LRHA) have partnered to facilitate the Health Equity Through a Rural Lens – ECHO Mini Series. Its goal is to identify, understand, and address the unintended health equity impacts on the citizens of Louisiana and their social determinants of health (SDOH) to reduce the burden of chronic disease and increase access to quality healthcare in our rural communities.
ECHO functions on a “hub and spoke” model with an interdisciplinary, team-based approach. Care providers and leadership will have access to experts in rural health care and health equity which allows care teams to engage in case-based learning and hear brief presentations. While content experts mentor and teach, participants freely share and receive knowledge and resources, fostering an “all teach, all learn” approach.
This is an open collaborative to interested learners across Louisiana including those who are physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, community health workers (CHW), and rising professionals.
Registration for the 2024 Health Equity through a Rural Lens – ECHO Mini Series is open through Wednesday, April 10, 2024
The ECHO model has been adapted into an 8-session curriculum, and topics may include but are not limited to: health equity, mental health, disabilities, addressing race and trauma, PRAPARE (Z-codes), culturally and linguistically appropriate approaches in healthcare, LGBTQIA+ healthcare, social vulnerability index (SVI), telehealth and digital literacy, food deserts and food insecurity, transportation barriers, healthcare workforce diversity, etc.
Project ECHO series will be held every Wednesday at 12:00PM CT from February 21, 2024, through April 10, 2024, and consist of pre/post surveys, introductions, announcements, didactic presentations, case presentations, Q&A, and closing remarks.
